Yes, it actually runs (insane)

The creation of motorcycling madman Simon Whitlock, who in the past has built a fuel injected, water cooled, supercharged and nitrous-fed version of the aforementioned killer H1. This creation is cobbled together from a series of engines pulled from Kawasaki S1/KH250's and boasts a total displacement of 4200 cubic centimeters, and is essentially six, inline-eight engines, each with its own crankshaft, all tied together with gears and running through a BMW transmission. The engine uses six Jaguar E-Type distributors to get the sparks flying and a 75 cc pony motor under the seat as a starter. Believe it or not, the bike is barely ride-able, but we're betting a change of pants is required after every trip.

This blew me away.

Playing For Change | Song Around The World "Stand By Me" from Concord Music Group on Vimeo.

This cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world. It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Ellitott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley's base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz's added some metal percussion to it.

And from there, it just gets rock 'n' rolling bananas: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals that were assembled in the final version you are seeing in this video. All done with a simple laptop and some microphones.

This has to be the very best cover of this song I have ever heard, amazing!

Shark Dive video from Roatan

Shark Dive from Brent on Vimeo.
This was the highlight of the trip. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if Denise would have been there to do it with me. The video is around 14 minutes long so if you want to fast forward to the feeding, it starts somewhere around 9 minutes in.

Little video of the room we had at Roatan

Roatan Room from Brent on Vimeo.

This was a small dive resort on the island that we stayed at called Las Rocas. It was a little primitive but still had a good stay there.

He finally won!

This past weekend we had the opportunity to go to the Texas Nascar Race and finally, after 17 races being held there, our favorite driver Jeff Gordon finally won there. This was one of two tracks that he had never won at. I remember the very first race that I got to go to there, I was a Nascar Newbie and had decided that he was the driver that I was going to cheer for. Denise's brother Brad had the infield RV spot and I was pumped about getting to go to a race. They dropped the green flag and I think it was on lap 2 that he crashed and finished 43 out of 43 drivers that day. We have been going back every since hoping that each one would be the one he would finally would get a victory at.
We had our great friends Rod and Juleah come down with us this time and enjoy the races with us. It is always fun when they are around. Sadly for Juleah, the driver she was cheering for, Carl Edwards, should have won the race because he had a better car than Jeff did, but ended up having a long pit stop which cost him the race.
I couldn't help thinking while we were cheering our favorite drivers on about how excited we get for them but yet when we go to church, how reserved and still we are. Being raised a Southern Baptist, that to me was reverence, a way of showing respect. I can't help but think that if we were all as excited about church that maybe, just maybe our churches might be a little more crowded and a little more packed, you know, sort of like a Nascar race this past weekend that had over 100,000 people at it.

Where has the time gone

A week and a half ago we celebrated Brennen's 11th birthday in classic Indiana Jones style (as you can tell by the theme on the cake). I can't believe our little boy is turning into a little man. Those of you who have heard our story about him know what a miracle he is. I feel so blessed but I have no idea where the last 11 years went. God please help me to not be so busy that I miss the next 11.

"Vintage Jesus" by Mark Driscoll

Have had this book on my kindle for a while and finally getting around to reading it. He does a great job of spelling out alot of stuff that can be confusing to alot of people. When presented with all the facts, I can't see how anyone can dispute who he really was.

Looks like PIXAR has done it again

This is looking like it will be another great hit from the animators at PIXAR. Brennen has already been talking about wanting to go see it. I keep waiting for them to make a flop but so far, all they do is outdo the previous one with each new one.

Looking forward to staying here

We get to go back to Copper Mountain with the Brook's gang to go snowboarding at the end of February and this time Brennen gets to go. We are staying at the mountain this time and lucked out and found this great place that is right by the ski school for him. Maybe I wont hurt myself this time and can get more boarding in. It worked out to where some more of our friends will end up being there at the same time again. Should be lots of fun for all the kids.

Lots of snow this year too. This was our second annual with these guys and we are hoping to make it many more to come.

New Year's Resolution

Discovering something that you enjoy is a great thing in life. Being blessed to be able to discover them is even more enjoyable. We got invited to go on a snowboard trip last year that happens the first week of the year each year. If it was just for the snowboarding, it would be a great trip. But what really makes this trip so fun is getting to be with and hang out with some people that we really enjoy and have a great time with.
My resolution for 2009 is to have as much fun and to enjoy life as much as possible and treasure those things that I have been blessed with. I have this amazing woman that I spend everyday with and finding things that we enjoy doing together has been one of the funnest adventures in my life. Then I have this little boy that I see so much of me in and so much of his mom in. I want him to never question or doubt how much his parents love him and care about him. I pray that in 2009 that he will see that nothing in this world is more important to me than him and his mom.
